Privacy Policy

Last updated:1 November 2026

1. Who we are

This website, anthonyboucher.co.za, belongs to Anthony Boucher ("we", "us" or "our"). We are the responsible party for the personal information collected through this website, as defined in the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

2. What this policy covers

This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit or use this website, why we collect it, how we protect it and what your rights are. It does not cover other websites we link to, such as the news outlets in our "In the Media" section. They have their own privacy policies.

3. The information we collect

Information you give us

  • Contact form: your first name, last name, email address, phone number (optional) and your message.

  • Newsletter or updates: your email address, if you choose to subscribe.

  • Chat and WhatsApp: your name, phone number and anything you write to us, if you contact us this way.

Giving us your information is voluntary. If you don't give us your name and a way to contact you, we won't be able to respond to your enquiry.

Please don't send identity numbers, banking details, health information or other sensitive details through the contact form. If we take on your matter, we will arrange a secure way for you to share them.

Information about other people

If your message includes information about someone else, for example a person you believe has defrauded you, we use it only to assess and respond to your enquiry, and only as POPIA allows.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, this site automatically collects technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view and how you reached the site. This is done through cookies (see section 8).

Children

This website is not aimed at children under 18. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to contact us for you.

4. Why we use your information

We use your personal information to:

  • respond to your enquiry and keep in touch with you about it;

  • assess whether we can help with your matter, and provide our services if you appoint us;

  • send you updates you asked for. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and we never send marketing messages without your consent;

  • keep the website secure and working properly, and understand how visitors use it;

  • meet our legal obligations.

We only process your information where POPIA allows it: with your consent, to take steps you have asked for, to comply with the law, or where it is in our legitimate interest and does not override your rights.

5. Who we share your information with

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only with:

  • Our website provider, Wix.com, which hosts this website and stores form submissions on our behalf.

  • Our professional advisers, such as attorneys, who are bound to keep it confidential.

  • The South African Police Service, courts or other authorities, when the law requires it, when it is needed to protect someone's rights or safety, or with your consent.

6. Information sent outside South Africa

Our website provider, Wix.com, stores website information in data centres in the United States and Ireland, so your information is transferred outside South Africa. We only use providers that are bound by data protection laws or agreements that give your information protection substantially similar to POPIA.

7. Videos, audio and links to other websites

Some pages show videos and audio from other platforms, such as YouTube and iono.fm, and link to news websites and social media. When you play embedded content or follow a link, that platform may collect information about you under its own privacy policy:

8. Cookies

Cookies are small files that a website stores on your device. This website uses:

  • Essential cookies that make the site work and keep it secure. The site can't work without them.

  • Analytics cookies that show us how visitors use the site, so we can improve it. We only use these if you accept them.

When you first visit, a cookie banner lets you accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, although some parts of the site may then not work properly. Wix lists the cookies it uses on its websites here.

9. How we protect your information

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your personal information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. This website uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, and only people who need your information to deal with your enquiry can see it. No internet transmission is completely secure, however. If your information is ever compromised, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.

10. How long we keep your information

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purpose we collected it, unless the law requires us to keep it longer. Enquiries that don't lead to an appointment are deleted after 12 months. Records of matters we handle are kept for as long as the law and our professional obligations require. After that, we delete or anonymise them.

11. Your rights

Under POPIA you have the right to:

  • ask whether we hold personal information about you, and request a copy of it;

  • ask us to correct or delete information that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete or that we may no longer keep;

  • object to us processing your information, and object to direct marketing at any time;

  • withdraw your consent at any time. This doesn't affect what we did with your information before you withdrew it;

  • lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator.

To use any of these rights, email info@anthonyboucher.co.za. We may ask you to prove your identity before we act on your request. The Information Regulator also has official forms for an objection (Form 1) and a request to correct or delete information (Form 2), which you are welcome to use.

12. Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first so that we can try to put it right. You may also complain to the Information Regulator:

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. Please check this page now and then to stay informed.
